The Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed the issues of intensifying cooperation with the Arab countries in the field of tourism

NUR-SULTAN, September 10, 2019 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a roundtable with the Ambassadors of Arab countries on enhancing cooperation in the field of tourism.

Heads of diplomatic missions of Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates took part in the “round table”. Representatives of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Committee for Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, JSC “Kazakh Tourism” and JSC “NC” Kazakhstan Invest “.

The event is a logical continuation of the Head of State’s Message to Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev in the development of the tourist industry of the country abroad.

The agenda of the round table covered issues related to the liberalization of visa and migratory regimes, the establishment of direct air links, and the development of cooperation in the field of tourism.

Representatives of government agencies during their reports informed the representatives of the diplomatic corps about the work being done to develop cooperation in tourism with other states. In particular, it was about liberalization of visa and migratory regimes, participation of Kazakhstani companies in international tourist activities abroad, attraction of investments into the domestic tourist sector, direct air communication between Kazakhstan and Arab countries. Within the framework of the event foreign participants discussed the issues of tourism development in Kazakhstan got acquainted with best practices. In particular, the representative of “Kazakh Tourism” spoke about the company’s activities, as well as the work on promotion and development of tourism facilities.

Representatives of “Kazakh Invest” gave detailed information on the work done with foreign investors by heads of diplomatic missions, presenting regional projects and paying special attention to attracting investments into the tourist sector of the country.

Arab diplomats, in turn, address issues of visa migration related to increasing the number of Arab countries, whose citizens have access to Kazakhstan through a visa or electronic tourist visa; prolongation of visa-free transit travel; drew attention to the need to reduce travel visas.

The participants of the “round table” came to the conclusion that a number of visa and migration issues were solved in order to ensure Kazakhstan’s popularity in the region and increase the flow of tourists from the Arab countries, development of air communications, as well as presentation and image-building measures. According to the results of the roundtable, representatives of the diplomatic corps gave their recommendations on the issues of activation of cooperation with Kazakhstan in the Arab countries.
