The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture strengthen coordination in the field of investments and export

ASTANA, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture Umirzak Shukeyev and Minister of Foreign Affairs Beibut Atamkulov discussed the issues of export promotion of Kazakhstani agricultural products and investment in the agro-industrial sector of the economy.

Issues of strengthening cooperation within the framework of the State Program of Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2017-2021 were considered during the meeting.

In order to implement strategic goals set out in the annual Message of the Head of State, it is necessary to attract foreign investments to the agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture in order to increase labor productivity and agricultural processing of agricultural products in at least 2.5 times. implementation of the Joint Action Plan for Trade Development. After detailed consideration of the plan, it was decided to update the activities related to strengthening the investment and export orientation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of investment projects related to attraction of large transnational corporations, particularly in agriculture, agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as for the production and processing of dairy and meat products.

Heads of the Ministries emphasized the importance of deep cooperation with international organizations, particularly with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Islamic Organization for Food Security, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and others.

In addition, the heads of departments agreed to organize trainings for the diplomats of foreign countries in Kazakhstan, which are interested in exporting agricultural products, in particular, to domestic farmers on promotion of agribusiness products in foreign markets.

The need to raise the information support for export of agricultural products, the organization of press tours for foreign mass media and information campaigns on the Kazakhstan agro-industrial complex.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Agriculture intends to introduce a regular practice of such meetings in order to stimulate the export of Kazakh agricultural products and to expand cooperation in attraction of investments into the agro-industrial sector of Kazakhstan.
