The future of the French language should be represented on all continents – Philippe Martine
From March 1 to April 30, in conjunction with the network of the French Alliances of Kazakhstan, the embassies of such countries as Belgium, Canada, France, Morocco and Switzerland organize the season of cultural events “French-spring 2019”
On this occasion, a press conference was held at the Central Communications Service with the participation of ambassadors of French-speaking countries.
We need to understand that cultural diversity is the main value of francophonies. My colleagues have already talked about this. Francophonie is a variety of different cultural aspects, this is an event for the development of linguistic diversity and we, as a representative of francophony, understand that it is thanks to francophony that we can not only promote French, but also cultural diversity itself. In France, we have regional languages, in addition to official French, I mean Breton, Basque. We in France have our own cultural diversity identity. This means that every culture must be able to express themselves through cultural works, literature and language. It is very important to emphasize this aspect. Why? Because in many areas, culture is also a support for the economy. Including often dominant languages suppress minority languages, so it is necessary that everyone can have the opportunity to express themselves. This applies to the film industry, and the production of various other works of other sectors. Therefore, francophony aims to promote cultural diversity, said the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Kazakhstan Philippe Martine.
The French Ambassador also added that the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of Cultural Diversity was established for this.
This Convention has created a framework for supporting cultural diversity. Its main goals are the promotion of a diverse cultural expression. To date, 145 states, including those present here, have already ratified this Convention and we would be happy if Kazakhstan, which also promotes the same values, could also ratify this Convention. For example, in the framework of the Rouhani zagyru program. I would also like to remind you that last year the United States, thanks to Louisiana, joined our organization. The future of the French language should be presented on all continents, said F.Martine in his speech.
Recall that the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Kazakhstan Philippe Martine took part in the press conference; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belgium to Kazakhstan, Alexi de Krombrughe de Piquendal; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Kazakhstan Urs Schmid; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Kazakhstan, Nicolas Brusso; Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Kazakhstan Abdelzhalil Saubri.
