The Foreign Minister and the Secretary General of the Turkic Council discussed the reform of the Turkic-speaking organizations
ASTANA, Issues of reforming the Turkic cooperation organizations were discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov with the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) Bagdat Amreev. Delegation of the Turkic Council arrived in Kazakhstan with a working visit to attend the meeting of Customs Services Heads of Member States.
During the 6th Summit of the Turkic Council in Sholpan-Ata, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, initiated the process of structural reforms of the Turkic-speaking countries.
“Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States is a unique international organization, which has a significant role in today’s world. It is important for all members of the Organization to further strengthen the authority and potential of the Turkic Council. Therefore, Kazakhstan hopes to work effectively on modernization of existing Turkic-speaking integration institutions and reforming and centralizing its services, “the Minister said.
In turn B. Amreev expressed gratitude to the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan for the full support of the Turkic Council in its OIC observer status during the 46th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers in Abu Dhabi in March.
The Secretary General of the Turkic Council informed the Council on the course of realization of the agreements and instructions of the Heads of State. He informed the Secretariat that he would conduct active consultations in the capitals of member states on reforming the organization. In addition, a regular meeting of the Senior Officials Committee will be held soon.
The Secretary General told about the preparations for the Summit of the Turkic Councils in Azerbaijan, the Turkic-speaking countries’ business forum in Uzbekistan, as well as a number of meetings at the level of heads of branch ministries and departments.
The sides exchanged views on the implementation of cultural and humanitarian projects, media and archives.
The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States is an international organization that unites modern Turkic states, whose main purpose is to develop multilateral cooperation between the member states of the Council. It was created in 2009 by the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev. The 7th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States at the Heads of State will be held in Azerbaijan this autumn.
