The cultural season “Frankofon? Naýryzy 2021” will be held in Kazakhstan from March 13
From March 13 to April 30, 2021, the embassies of Belgium, Canada, France, Morocco and Switzerland in Kazakhstan together with the French Alliances and Kazakhstani Francophone Associations will organize a Francophone spring in Kazakhstan. Every year, the embassies of the member countries of the International Organization of Francophonie organize cultural events in Kazakhstan, celebrating the richness of Francophone cultures and the French language in general. During this period, it is planned to hold about 50 events in seven cities of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstanis can take part in film screenings, master classes, discussion club meetings, literary and linguistic games, as well as culinary master classes. According to the organizers, the measures will be taken in strict compliance with sanitary requirements.
The International Organization of Francophonie was founded in 1970. The organization has 51 member states. The main objectives of the organization are to promote the spread of cultural and linguistic diversity, to expand the use of the French language, as well as to support peace, democracy, human rights, education and sustainable development. French is the fifth most widely spoken language in the world, with 300 million people speaking the language on all five continents. French is the official language in 29 countries, second only to English. In addition, it is the fourth most widely used language on the Internet and the second largest in terms of the number of learners (132 million people).
In Kazakhstan, Francophonie is based on the activities of a rich and extensive network of French cultural institutions. It consists of four French Alliances in Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Shymkent and Karaganda, and French centers in Kostanay and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
There are also Francophone Clubs in Atyrau, Nazarbayev University Francophones Association, Blablathé Association in Almaty, Astana Francophone Association and others. There are many Francophone clubs.
According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Kazakhstan Didier Canes, this year the priority is given to the most famous French writer David Fonkinos. In this regard, the screening of the detective film “The Secret of Henri Peak” will open the event. There will also be a screenplay by David, written by David, and directed by his brother. The second very important event is related to our Franco-Kazakh relations. At the end of the month there will be a match between national football teams in the 22nd Cup. As part of this event, a competition will be organized for schoolchildren, there will be a quiz on football. Of course, all participants, including the French Football Federation, will receive gifts and souvenirs.
“One more thing, one of the manifestations of French culture, of course, is gastronomy. Therefore, we decided to hold master classes and seminars with the participation of a famous French chef in Nur-Sultan. I invite you to see our events on the website of the embassy, on social networks, where you can get more information, “the ambassador said.
According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belgium to Kazakhstan Alexi de Crombrughe de Picendal, the main theme of the Francophone Spring 2021 will be pandemic victims. It will be special for that.
“Belgium annually participates in events dedicated to the International Day of Francophonie. After the sudden cessation of many activities related to the sanitary crisis last year, the Francophone spring in 2021 is special for us – we have high hopes. I would like to dedicate this year to all those affected by the pandemic, “said the Belgian ambassador.
For more than 50 years, the International Francophone Organization has been promoting international cooperation, peace and human rights through the prism of multilingualism and cultural equality. In this context, Belgium, as a founding member of the international organization, pays special attention and fully supports the values and principles of the organization, which underlie our diplomatic activities around the world. French is an important part of the cultural heritage of my country, where it is used on an equal footing with the other two national languages. Together, these three languages contribute to the cultural identity of my country, often due to the various challenges, the openness and pragmatism needed to overcome them. Anyone can take part in French language, song and sports competitions.
