The Capital’s Athletes Have Become Winners of National Rowing Competitions


3 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals have been won by sportsmen of Astana at the Kazakhstan Rowing Championship.

During the period from July 12 to 16, the personalteam championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in rowing has been held in Temirtau at Samarkand Water Reservoir. This year, more than 150 sportsmen have taken part in the competitions.

An inmate of the Specialized School of Higher Sportsmanship of Astana, International Master of Sports Alexandra Opachanova has won three gold medals. Aslan Kussainov has brought one silver medal to the treasury of the capital’s team. Yuriy Lobov, Aishambek Ibrashev and Kirill Kolomiyets have won bronze medals.

Competitions have been held at a good organizational level. Being a coach, I am pleased with the mood of athletes. They come here only to win. This year, the team of Astana has taken the second team place, said the Honored Coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan for rowing Andrei Krasnikov.

The championship is held annually in the city of Temirtau, and gives a chance to the athletes to get into the national team of Kazakhstan, as well as the Asian Games, which will be held in September.
