Thailand prepares actively for EXPO-2017

The briefing was attended by the leadership of the state authorities of Thailand, national companies and more than 40 representatives of leading Thai media, the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

A welcoming speech was delivered by Minister of Energy of Thailand Anantaporn Kanjanarat. He presented a concept of the Thai Pavilion. He spoke about the preparations of the Thai government for one of the most important events in 2017.

“The theme “Energy of the Future” reflects the urgency of the issue for the future generations of all humanity. Thailand therefore intends to contribute to the global development of bioenergy and to show in Astana its development in the renewable energy field”, he stressed.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan Marat Yessenbayev in his speech informed the audience about the preparations for the Astana exhibition, spoke about the main stages of the substantive content of “EXPO-2017” and invited Thai journalists and businessmen to take an active part in the event.

Taking into account the high interest of Thai nationals, one of the main issues was the simplification of visa regime between Kazakhstan and Thailand. The press conference participants and media representatives addressed with a request to soften it. In their view, the introduction of the visa-free travel would increase not only the flow of tourists, but also businessmen and investors.

Within the event M. Yessenbayev met with the representatives of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, Federation of Thai Industries and the Chamber of investments. They agreed to organize a trade mission from Thailand to Kazakhstan during “EXPO-2017” including the leaders of 200 leading Thai companies and to hold the “Kazakh-Thai business forum” in Astana.
