Tajik citizens throw stones at Kyrgyz cars

The situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as relatively stable, the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan reported.

On December 25, at about 14:30, on an disputed section of the border, opposite Sai village of Leilek region of Batken Oblast the Tajik border guards installed a mortar on the territory of their post. In addition, Tajik military personnel accumulated on the territory of Tajikistan, opposite the Kyrgyz villages of Damba and Maksat.

At about 19:40 on the Osh-Batken-Isfana road section in the Eki-Tash area of the Kok-Tash village 3-4 citizens of Tajikistan threw stones at 4 cars of citizens of Kyrgyzstan. As a result, the cars received various damages. The citizens of Kyrgyzstan were not hurt.

The head of the Kok-Tash frontier post of Kyrgyzstan, who arrived at the scene, fired 3 warning shots into the air, after which the citizens of Tajikistan fled deep into their territory.

Immediately after the incident, a meeting was held between the chiefs of the border outposts of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, who, in order to stabilize the situation, deployed additional border patrols. The Tajik side announced that it is searching for those involved in the incident.

The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic monitors and controls the situation in this area.
