Switzerland to allocate $970 thsd to Kyrgyzstan to improve quality of export fruits


Switzerland will provide Kyrgyzstan with USD 970 thousand to improve the quality of exportoriented fruits and berries (sea buckthorn, currant, raspberry, etc.) of IssykKul Oblast, Bakytbek Shabdanov, the head of the Department of Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.

He recalled the Memorandum of Understanding between the Swiss Confederation, acting through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and the Kyrgyz Republic, acting through the Ministry of Economy, which was signed during the visit of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Switzerland.

The project is designed for three years. It will provide technical support, as needed, to the state supervisory bodies, testing and calibration laboratories and certification bodies, Shabdanov said.

In turn, Director of the Center for Standardization and Metrology under the Economy Ministry Berdimat Adanbayev, said that the project support will be aimed at improving the capacity of the private sector (farmers, producers, processors and exporters) to ensure compliance with market requirements and improve the quality and productivity of their export products.
