Strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Oman

by December 9, 2019 Study

A delegation of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by Deputy Chairman Bektas Beknazarov, is visiting the Sultanate of Oman at the invitation of the Chairman of the State Council of Oman, Yahya bin al-Manzeri. This is the first visit of such deputies of the Parliament between Kazakhstan and Oman.

Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with the Chairman of the Council of State, Yahya bin Manzeri, his deputy, Sheikh al-Khatab al-Hinai, the Chairman of the Advisory Council, Sheikh Khalid al-Mawali, and a meeting was planned with the rector of the University of Sultan Qaboos.

During the meetings, a thorough exchange of views took place on issues of bilateral relations, including in the field of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, expanding trade and economic relations and international tourism.

The parties noted that tourism is a promising area of bilateral cooperation, which will be facilitated by visa facilitation and the opening of a direct flight between the cities of Almaty and Muscat (the capital of Oman). This will not only use the tourism opportunities of the two countries, but also give an impetus to the development of business activity.

The Sultanate of Oman was among the first Arab states to establish close political and economic cooperation with Kazakhstan. Today, Oman continues its effective presence in Kazakhstan, especially in the energy sector. The parties are developing joint projects in the oil and gas industry.

The strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations will further expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
