State Traffic Safety Inspectorate names reasons for growth of road accidents in Kyrgyzstan
From January to December 2019, the number of road accidents in Kyrgyzstan increased by 8.8%, deputy head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate Imanaly Sarkulov told at a press conference in Bishkek.
He said that mortality also increased by 6.8% as a result of accidents and the number of victims increased by 9.3%.
We made in-depth analysis of all incidents and came to the conclusion that the main reason for the growth of road accidents is the underdevelopment of road infrastructure. Our roads are not ready to serve the number of cars that we have now. Also, the import of cars continues. Also, there are a lot of drivers among drivers of road accidents with a driving experience of less than 1 year. The quality of training for motorists is not up to par, Sarkulov said.
He noted that more than 40% of car accidents with pedestrians occur not only through the fault of a driver. You can’t only blame drivers for hitting. There should be a culture of behavior for all road users. Pedestrians themselves sometimes pose a threat to themselves, added the deputy head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.
