First Vice Premier of Kazakhstan A. Mamin noted the importance of launching the project on building the Big Almaty Ring Road, implemented on behalf of the Head of State N. Nazarbayev.

“BAKAD is the largest infrastructure project based on public-private partnership, in which leading world companies take part,” A. Mamin said and stressed that “the project reflects a qualitatively new level of economic development, interaction of the state and the private sector.”

The dynamic development of Almaty, the intensive growth of the population of the megalopolis form the demand for the expansion of transport infrastructure, creation of new jobs.

“The construction of the BAKAD is a new stage in the infrastructure development not only for the region but also of Kazakhstan as a whole,” the First Deputy Prime Minister said in this regard and set the task of completing the project in 2021.

Akim of Almaty region A. Batalov said that in the region all the necessary conditions are created for the successful implementation of the infrastructure project. It is planned to create about two thousand jobs, almost 90% of the local population will be involved in the construction of the highway.

Batalov assured that the local executive power will provide full support for the BAKAD construction in the future.

As Minister for Investments and Development Zh. Kassymbek said, the Concession Agreement with the consortium Alsim Alarko � Makyol � SK � Korea Expressway for the construction and operation of the Big Almaty Ring Road was signed in February 2018.

The six-lane bypass road around Almaty with a length of 66 km will correspond to the parameters of the first technical category. Along with the construction of the highway, it is planned to build new bridges, transport interchanges and flyovers.

The project will improve the quality of transport services, ensure road safety, reduce the negative impact of road transport on the environment.

During his stay in the region, Mamin held a meeting on the implementation of the project “Construction of Four Satellite Towns in the Almaty Region (G4 City).”

Currently, water, electricity, gas supply and transport communications facilities have been built in the Gate City satellite town. In the Bereke industrial zone it is planned to implement 12 large projects with the investment volume of over 100 billion tenge and create more than 1,500 jobs. According to the Action Plan for the development of the first stage of the residential development of the satellite town Gate City, the construction of housing will start in 2019.

“The infrastructure of the city is now ready, the industrial, residential and logistics zone is being developed. All the necessary conditions have been created for the implementation of the project,” Mamin said and noted the need for further active work on attracting direct investments.

The meeting also discussed the development of tourism in the Almaty region. There are 14 priority projects in the republican tourist card, seven of which are planned to be implemented in the region.
