Senators aim to improve the situation of citizens with disabilities

Today, under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev, a meeting of the Chamber took place. At it, the deputies considered a number of bills related to strengthening the social protection of Kazakhstanis and preserving the ecosystem of the Caspian Sea.

Children with special needs will now be able to simultaneously receive state social benefits for disability and survivors. In addition, children from low-income families will be guaranteed the provision of a social package and the provision of special social services through the Social Services Portal. These and a number of other innovations that improve the situation of citizens with disabilities are spelled out in the Law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Social Protection of Certain Categories of Citizens”, which was approved by the senators today.

“The adopted Law is aimed at improving the situation of citizens with disabilities, including children, eliminating social inequality, and improving the existing social security system. We hope that in the future the Law will have a positive impact on ensuring the rights of our citizens with disabilities and families with children with special needs, ”Maulen Ashimbaev emphasized.

One of the priorities in the work of the senators is the issues of ecology and environmental protection. Today, at the meeting, another Law “On Ratification of the Protocol on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context to the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea” was adopted.

“For our country, the Caspian Sea is of strategic importance. Therefore, respect for him is always in the spotlight. We hope that the adopted Law will work to prevent pollution of the sea and coast, preserve biological diversity and rational use of natural resources, ”said the Speaker of the Senate.

During the meeting, the senators also voiced their parliamentary inquiries. Thus, Murat Baktiyaruly raised the problem of disproportion in the salaries of maslikhat secretaries, chairmen of audit commissions and administrative civil servants. Gumar Dyusembayev pointed out the importance of revising the size of the development budget for the donor region by reducing annual withdrawals to the republican budget. Andrey Lukin proposed to take measures to improve and automate the risk management system, digitalize the process of collecting and processing information from audit subjects. Senator Altynbek Nukhuly stressed the importance of celebrating the 90th anniversary of the statesman Uzbekali Zhanibekov, and Deputy Nurzhan Nursipatov voiced questions about the readiness of the country’s national team for the 24th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
