Senate deputies examined issues related to the environment
In the Senate of the Parliament at an enlarged meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Rural Development, the draft Law On ratification of the Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers to the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision Making and Access to Justice on Matters Relating to environment. “
Kazakhstan is a party to the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters since 2000.
The Protocol is the first legally binding international instrument on pollutant release and transfer registers. The purpose of the Protocol is to increase public access to information, public participation in measures to prevent and reduce environmental pollution.
Joining the Protocol will provide increased public access to information, will facilitate public participation in decision-making on issues related to environmental protection, and will be a logical continuation of strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and other UN member countries in the framework of the implementation of the Aarhus Convention.
