At a meeting of the Senate Committee on Social and Cultural Development and Science, the deputies discussed a draft law concerning the strengthening of social protection of certain categories of citizens.

The document, adopted in the first reading at the previous session of the Senate, provides for the introduction of amendments and additions to 16 legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In particular, in order to ensure equal rights and opportunities for men and women in the world of work, the relevant Code proposes to exclude norms restricting the use of women’s labor, as well as those that do not allow women to work hard, work with harmful and hazardous working conditions.

In addition, the changes will also affect the Laws “On Housing Relations”, “On State Targeted Social Assistance”, as well as “On State Social Benefits for Disability and in Case of Loss of the breadwinner in the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

“The amendment to the Law on Housing Relations provides for the preservation of the priority for receiving housing for families raising a child with a disability who did not receive housing before he reaches the age of 18. There is also a guarantee of a social package for children from low-income families and the provision of special social services through the Portal, ”said Senator Nariman Turegaliev.

The adoption of the bill presupposes the solution of topical issues of providing citizens with basic social guarantees, including social support for persons with additional needs, targeted social assistance and pensions.

As a result of the meeting, the deputies decided to submit this draft law for consideration by the Chamber in the second reading.
