The China Foreign Languages Publication and Distribution Administration and the editorial board of the Chinese Renmin Huabao newspaper held a mixed forum following the results of the jubilee SCO Summit in Dushanbe. More than twenty representatives of think tanks, heads of mass media, as well as representatives of diplomatic departments from the SCO countries took part in the forum.

Some of the forum participants made presentations on the vision of the SCO’s development in modern conditions online through Zoom.

The forum participants paid special attention to the role of the SCO in modern conditions, and the fact of the steady expansion of its membership, which potentially already includes about 20 countries, speaks of the growing role of the Organization in world politics. A number of Chinese speakers stressed that in the near future the importance of the SCO will only increase, and that they “will only bet on the SCO,” bearing in mind the prospects for the development of the organization and its weight.

In addition, representatives from India, Pakistan and Russia emphasized the steady growth of the authority of the SCO and pointed to urgent measures to improve the Organization in the new conditions.

From the countries of Central Asia, in addition to the official diplomatic representatives of the countries to the Organization, prominent scientists and researchers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan made presentations.

On behalf of Kyrgyzstan, President of the National Academy of Sciences Murat Dzhumatayev and Director of Kabar News Agency Kubanychbek Taabaldiev took part in the forum. In their speeches, they dwelled on the importance of strengthening equal relations between members of the organization, consensus adoption of important decisions, strengthening ties between countries in all relevant areas of development in difficult geopolitical conditions.

Based on the results of the forum’s work, its organizers intend to develop recommendations for the further work of the Organization.
