Salary increase as part of implementation of the President’s Address discussed in Ukimet Uyi
In his Address to the people of Kazakhstan, the Head of State instructed to change the parameters of the main social indicator in the sphere of labor � the minimum wage. At the same time, the President called on large companies to support these changes, and, accordingly, to take measures to increase the salaries of low-wage workers.
At the meeting, issues of developing common approaches to the implementation of this assignment by local executive bodies and private structures were discussed. For a comprehensive consideration of the issue, regional akims, as well as heads of Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and large enterprises of the country took part in the meeting in the selector mode.
In their speeches at the meeting, Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Svetlana Zhakupova and regional akims gave statistics on the number of employees in public and private organizations who receive a salary of up to 42,500 tenge and reported on measures taken to execute instructions from Address 2019. The expected powerful social effect of the minimum wage increase will allow, in the opinion of the speakers, to significantly raise the living standards of low-wage workers in both public and private organizations.
The leaders of large and medium-sized enterprises of the country did not stand aside either. Speaking at the meeting, General Director of Arcelor Mittal Temirtau Paramzhit Kalon expressed his full readiness to raise wages, in addition to general indexation, not only to those who receive the minimum, but also about 80% of the company’s employees.
The Deputy Chairman of the Board of Atameken NCE Eldar Zhumagaziev expressed the consolidated position of the business with the full support of the Head of State’s appeal to increase wages of the population.
Summing up the discussion, the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev instructed the ministries of labor and social protection of the population, information and communications, akims of the regions and the cities of Astana, Almaty, Shymkent to ensure proper monitoring of compliance with labor laws in respect of low-paid categories of workers, to take measures for widespread explanatory work. In addition, it is entrusted to ensure the signing and observance of collective agreements, acts of the employer governing the wage system and monitoring compliance with labor law, including to prevent the mass release of workers and use of their work without a labor contract.
