Relations with neighbouring countries have improved significantly, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said during the press conference at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek.
He said successful talks were conducted with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
“We are working closely with Russia, a strategic ally. Several consular offices have been opened in Russia and European cities, where many of our compatriots are concentrated. Four consular offices have been opened in the regions of the Russian Federation. About 130 thousand citizens were granted amnesty, more than 6 thousand were removed from the black list. Relations with China and India have reached a new level of partnership. Summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Collective Security Treaty Organization were successfully held in Bishkek the Kyrgyz leader said.
Jeenbekov also noted the election of Kyrgyzstan to the UNESCO Executive Board for 2019-2023.
The Kyrgyz President’s press conference is taking place at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek.
A total of 188 journalists have been accredited for the event.
Of these, 160 journalists are from 77 national media and 28 journalists – from 15 foreign media, accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Note that this is the second press conference of Sooronbay Jeenbekov as the President.
