Relations btwn Kazakhstan and Turkey strengthen in all directions – President of Kazakhstan
The relationship between Kazakhstan and Turkey, based on a common history and spiritual values, is rapidly developing and strengthening in all directions. This was stated by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev during a briefing for representatives of the media in Ankara, the press service of Akorda reported.
Speaking to the media representatives, Nursultan Nazarbayev thanked Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his hospitality and congratulated him on his victory in the last presidential election.
The Head of State stressed the strategic nature of relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey.
“Our mutual relations based on a common history and spiritual values are rapidly developing and strengthening in all directions”, the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev dwelled in detail on the results of the talks with the President of Turkey R. Erdogan.
“Today we have held meaningful and fruitful negotiations with the President of Turkey. This meeting allowed us to exchange views on topical issues. In general, I’d like to note that Astana and Ankara always openly discuss regional and international problems, according to which our positions are similar”, the Head of State said.
The President of Kazakhstan also expressed confidence that the Third Meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between Kazakhstan and Turkey will give an additional impetus to bilateral relations.
Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the interest of both countries in further strengthening and deepening of the political dialogue and friendship between the fraternal peoples.
In addition, the Head of State dwelled on the issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
“Now there are more than 1800 enterprises with the participation of Turkish assets in our country. The volume of trade turnover between the countries last year amounted to almost 2 billion dollars. We agreed that in the future this figure will reach 5 billion dollars”, the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the interim results of the implementation of the joint “New Synergy” program and dwelt on the results of negotiations with the “captains of the Turkish business”.
“In general, following the visit, agreements on commercial projects worth about 2 billion dollars were signed. In the near future, we need to make efforts to implement the agreements reached today”, the Head of State said.
The President of Kazakhstan also urged Turkish investors to actively participate in the development of the transport and logistics hub that operates on the basis of Aktau and Kuryk ports.
“Today, during the talks, we discussed our cooperation in transit-transport, oil and gas, military-technical, agricultural, tourist, cultural, educational, scientific and technological fields. We agreed to strengthen our cooperation in these areas”, Nursultan Nazarbayev concluded.
In turn, R. Erdogan expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the official visit and highly appreciated the results of the meetings held.
The President of Turkey spoke about the key results of the talks on expanding trade and economic relations, deepening cooperation in the educational and cultural spheres, having noted their positive dynamics.
