Regions of Kyrgyzstan leading on unemployment rate
Kyrgyzstan’s Dzhalal-Abad, Osh and Batken Oblasts are the leading regions in the country in terms of the number of registered unemployed.
As of Nov.1, 2019, the number of unemployed people registered with the state employment service in search of work amounted to 102.9 thousand people, which is 12.1% more compared to the same date in 2018, and the number of registered unemployed is 83.3 thousand people, or 18.9% more, the press service of the National Statistic Committee said with reference to the Ministry of Social Development.
Of the total number of registered unemployed persons, 48.6 per cent were women. The registered unemployment rate was 3.3% of the economically active population.
The number of registered unemployed in Batken Oblast is 10 thousand 827, in Dzhalal-Abad Oblast 27 thousand 863 persons, 4 thousand 409 people in Issy-Kul Oblast are unemployed, 3 thousand 367 in Naryn Oblast, 20 thousand 486 unemployed people live in Osh Oblast, 3 thousand 271 in Talas Oblast, there are 4 thousand 412 unemployed people in Chui Oblast, and in cities of Bishkek- 6 thousand 131 people, Osh- 2 thousand 529 people.
The unemployment rate in Kyrgyzstan has increased by 19.2% since the beginning of this year compared to the same period in 2018.
