Upon the direct instructions of the Head of State, the Ministry intends to develop the regional mass media to a whole new level. Todays event is only the first step in this direction. Why is it important? Because society seriously increases demand for quality information on pressing issues of the regions, monotowns, districts and villages. The press always spurs public authorities to work better, more transparent and effective, Dauren Abayev said.
According to the Minister, the more developed the local media is, the more productively local authorities cooperate.
The Minister adduced an example of the US study, which showed that size of local media audience is directly proportional to the high turnout in the elections, implementation of election promises, and even street cleanliness. In other words, the regional press is an important and strong player able to make a significant contribution to the modernization of our country in line with 100 Concrete Steps Nations Plan.
D.Abayev also noted that nearly 80% of media registered in Kazakhstan is operating in the regions.
