Rates reduction for telephone communication and internet services
In execution of clause 2 of the minutes from the meeting of Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted a meeting with participation of major communication operators (Kazakhtelecom JSC, Transtelecom JSC, Kaztranscom JSC, Kcell JSC, Kar-Tel LLP, Mobile Telecom Service LLP) regarding reduction of rates for telephone communication and internet and following the results of which, from January 1, 2019, communication operators will introduce more affordable rate plans for citizens.
Since January 1, 2019, Kazakhtelecom JSC introduced a new rate plan that costs KZT 3499 per month with VAT, which is 5.4% lower than previous minimal rate (previous Minimal rate plan cost was KZT 3699 per month). The new rate includes the Internet with the speed up to 10 Mbit/s (previously it was 3 Mbit/s) and telephone communication with unlimited calls throughout Kazakhstan and to Altel and Tele2 operators (previously it was only 60 minutes for calls to Altel subscribers).
Since January 1, 2019, Kazakhtelecom JSC introduced special offers for vulnerable social groups, which include 50% discount for connecting a subscriber to communication services; 10% discount for telephone monthly fee and 15% discount for the Internet monthly fee.
Since January 1, 2019, Transtelecom JSC provides 5% discount for the Internet service to old-age pensioners, participants of the Great Patriotic War and citizens equated to them.
Kar-Tel LLP had developed a range of rate plans like Social and Social Plus. Under the rate plans, subscribers are provided with mobile communication services at a price beginning from KZT 590 and higher depending on the extent of pre-paid services.
Mobile Telecom Service LLP informs on introducing a new rate plane named Affordable. Under the rate plan, Tele2 subscribers can make free-of-charge calls to the same operator subscribers and to subscribers of other operators for KZT 11 just paying a monthly fee of KZT 350. Also, the company is in the process of implementing a free-of-charge access to Kundelik information system.
