Professionalism, Courage and Heroism. Senate Changed the Competition Terms for Journalists

On behalf of the Chairman of the Senate Dariga Nazarbayeva, the conditions for Amanat competition among journalists have been changed.

Due to the urgency, the procedure has been supplemented with another one area – media coverage of the activities of specialists who are fighting coronavirus infection and are actively involved in eliminating its consequences.

Materials that highlight the professionalism, courage and heroism of medical workers, employees of internal affairs agencies, special state bodies, military personnel, volunteers, various specialists, citizens and organizations that take an active part in the country’s activities during the state of emergency will be especially encouraged.

Recall that the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan holds competitions among media representatives and bloggers dedicated to the best journalistic investigation based on the materials of the Senate Amanat and environmental journalism Tugan Yel.

The Amanat competition is aimed at raising Kazakhstan public awareness of the Senate activities. The competition works should highlight the relevance and significance of amendments to laws made by deputies of the Senate and their focus on solving problematic issues, the participation of deputies in solving regional problems, and the role of maslikhats in legislative activities.

Participants of the Tugan Yel competition in their works should draw public attention to issues of environmental protection, protection of citizens’ rights to live in an environmentally friendly and safe environment, as well as involve journalists in coverage of environmental problems and conservation of wildlife biodiversity.

Journalists, full-time and freelance employees of national and regional TV channels and newspapers, Internet publications and radio, bloggers can take part in the competitions. Materials of both author groups and individual authors, published in the media from September 1 to May 5 are allowed to participate. The competition started on November 1 last year. The deadline for receiving materials is May 12, and the summing up is scheduled for June 20.
