Privatization of enterprises in Kazakhstan planned to be complete by the end of 2018

During today’s meeting the Government reviewed issues of executing the instructions given by the Head of State at the extended Government meeting on February 3, 2017.

Recall, yesterday held an extended meeting of the Government, where President Nursultan Nazarbayev gave instructions on correcting deficiencies in various sectors of the economy.

Accordingly, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev gave the Cabinet several specific tasks on execution of instructions voiced by the Head of State. In particular, the Government was tasked to expedite and complete privatization of enterprises by the end of 2018.

“Before March 1st this year, The Ministry of National Economy must submit a draft decision on approval of a list of specific objects to be privatized until 2018.”

According to the Government, most of the objects will be sold this year. Ministry of Finance must monitor the monthly implementation schedule.

“Any delay on the schedule will be punished,” – the Prime Minister said.

In addition, the Head of State instructed to prepare an exhaustive list of objects that will remain in the state and quasi-public sector.

In this regard, B. Sagintayev tasked the Ministry of National Economy to eliminate objects not included in this list as not corresponding to Yellow Page Rules. This work must be complete until March 1st.
