During his speech, B.Sagintayev touched on issues of multilateral trade and economic cooperation, implementation of joint infrastructure projects, food security and environmental protection of states – SCO members.
According to Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, to strengthen further cooperation it is important to fulfill the Action Plan for 2016-2020 for the implementation of the SCO Development Strategy until 2025, approved by the Council of heads of states – members of the SCO in Tashkent on June this year.
B.Sagintayev reminded that Astana will host the International Exhibition EXPO-2017, on the theme “Energy of the Future” in 2017, and expressed the readiness of Kazakhstan to provide maximum assistance in placement “section of the SCO,” the pavilion of international organizations.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan raised the issue of expansion of the SCO. As is known, Astana will host the Summit of heads of states – members of the organization on June 8-9, 2017; it is expected to complete procedures for admission of India and Pakistan in SCO member states and to sign the relevant documents.
It should be noted that earlier, the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, at the meeting of Council of heads of states – SCO members on June of this year, said that the entry of India and Pakistan to the SCO marks a qualitatively new stage of development of the organization, reflecting the growth of its authority and role in the international arena.
“In view of the accession of new countries – members of SCO will unite more than 60% of the territory of Eurasia, 45% of the world’s population, over 19% of world GDP. More than a year ago, I initiated the establishment of the Joint Eurasian economic space. The key element here is the infrastructure of Eurasia Association nodal points by reviving historic routes of the Silk Road,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
It should be reminded that Prime Minister of Kazakhstan B.Sagintayev arrived in Bishkek to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government – SCO members. During the trip, B.Sagintayev held bilateral meetings with the Acting Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah, and also took part in the meeting with the President of Kyrgyzstan, heads of government – the SCO member states.
