Prime Minister meets with Dutch Ambassador

The Ukimet Uyi hosted a meeting of Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Kazakhstan Dirk Jan Kop.

The meeting covered the issues of current state and future directions of Kazakhstan-Netherlands economic cooperation.

We are interested in participation of companies leading in your country in programs of industrial-innovative and infrastructural development of Kazakhstan. Of particular interest are the Dutch industrial technology, advanced know-how and innovation, Bakytzhan Sagintayev said.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands is today the largest investor in terms of direct investment into the economy of Kazakhstan and the second partner of Kazakhstan in the EU in terms of foreign trade turnover (after Italy).

According to the National Bank of Kazakhstan, gross FDI from the Netherlands from 2005 to 2 quarter of 2016 amounted to $61.1 billion.

In January-November, 2016, Kazakhstan-Netherlands trade turnover amounted to $3.079 billion. In 2015 trade turnover was $5.2 billion ($4.9 billion of exports and $0.3 billion of imports).

There are 956 joint enterprises operating in Kazakhstan, most of which are active in the field of oil and gas, geological exploration, supply of agricultural equipment, pharmaceuticals, and medicine, production of consumer goods.

The Business Council between the Atameken NCE and the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers has been operating since 2014.
