Presidents of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan discussed condition and prospects of bilateral relations
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a telephone conversation with President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the press-service of Akorda reports.
During the conversation the sides discussed condition and prospects of bilateral relations. The leaders expressed satisfaction with the implementation of agreements reached during the official visit of the President of Afghanistan to Kazakhstan in November 2015. In particular, a significant turnover in mutual trade was noted in recent years.
The leaders exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, which date was celebrated on February 12 of the current year.
In addition, the parties discussed the situation in Afghanistan taking into account the fact that Kazakhstan as a non-permanent UN Security Council member presides in the Committee on Afghanistan.
The President of Afghanistan confirmed his participation in a meeting of Council of the Heads of States of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Science and Technology, which will be held in Astana this year.
The telephone conversation was initiated by the Afghan side.
