President Tokayev met with EU Special Representative for Central Asia

Representative for Central Asia, Peter Burian, the Akorda press service informed.

The parties looked into deepening strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the European Union under the Agreement on Expanded Partnership and Cooperation and the new EU Strategy for Central Asia.

Developing comprehensive and multifaceted cooperation with the European Union our country’s main foreign economic and investment partner is of great importance for Kazakhstan, the Head of State stated.

Congratulating President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council Charles Michel, President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde, KassymJomart Tokayev was optimistic that a frank and confidential dialogue with the new EU leadership would serve as a catalyst to further boost the political and economic cooperation of the parties.

Peter Burian believes that the social wellbeing and rule of lawdriven initiatives and priorities of the Head of State aimed at modernizing Kazakhstan will usher in a new phase in the history of the country.

The EU Special Representative for Central Asia welcomed the country’s contribution to the international security and cooperation, including in the Central Asian region and Afghanistan.
