President meets with Special Rep of Russian President Mikhail Shvydkoy

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Special Representative of Russian President on International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy.

President Jeenbekov warmly welcomed Shvydkoy, noting with satisfaction that this year is characterized by high dynamics and intensity of negotiations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, his press service said.

Vladimir Putin’s state visit to the Kyrgyz Republic in March 2019 demonstrated a high level of strategic partnership, based on a strong tradition of historical friendship and trust. Our decision to declare 2020 the Cross Year of Kyrgyzstan and Russia is a clear confirmation of this. Your visit is just timed to coincide with this event, said Jeenbekov.

He expressed confidence this meeting will enable to define the further steps for holding the Cross Year, and stressed regular meetings with Russian colleagues allow to reach a qualitatively new level of strategic partnership and alliance between the two countries.

It is important for us to develop bilateral cooperation in all areas, which will make our relations even more exceptional. The declaration of 2020 the Cross Year of Kyrgyzstan and Russia has a symbolic significance on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Special Representative of President of Russia on International Culture Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy said, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome.

As he noted, the Russian side is committed to the successful implementation of activities within the framework of the Cross Year.

Note that the decision to declare 2020 the Cross Years of Kyrgyzstan in Russia and Russia in Kyrgyzstan was made by two Presidents in the framework of the state visit of Russian leader Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan in Mar. 28, 2019.
