President Jeenbekov visits renovated CEC building

Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov today, Nov.13 visited renovated building of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendum (CEC) of the Kyrgyz Republic, his press service reported.

CEC Chairwoman Nurzhan Shaildabekova presented the activities of the Center for Civil Education and Election Technologies, which was established in accordance with the Electoral Legislation Improvement Strategy for 2018-2020.

The main direction of its activity is to raise the level of legal culture of participants in the electoral process through the development and organization of educational programs, workshops, lectures, scientific and practical conferences, round tables, training sessions, etc.

The President stressed the need to ensure wide access of citizens to the activities of the Center, called for the use of both traditional formats and modern digital technologies of e-learning.

Shaildabekova also spoke about the work to improve the implementation of the electoral rights of citizens with disabilities and increase the participation of young people in the electoral process.

An online video conference was also held with representatives of territorial election commissions, who told about the results of elections of head of local authorities in Zhany-Zher village of Leilek region, Batken Oblast and Ken-Aral village of Bakai-Ata region, Talas Oblast.

Representatives of the territorial commissions of Mosovsky region of Chui Oblast and Toguz-Toro region of Dzhalal-Abad Oblast also presented information on the preparation of local councils for the upcoming elections through an online video conference.

During the conversation with the CEC members, Sooronbay Jeenbekov emphasized the country’s development is possible only through open and fair competition in the political and economic spheres.

He reminded the main task of the CEC is to ensure open and transparent elections at all levels and to create a sustainable platform for the electoral system.

The President congratulated the CEC members and the staff of the commission on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the election commission.
