Solemn event, dedicated to the 95 anniversary of the Kyrgyz militia with the participation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov is taking place at the National Philharmonic Society named after Toktogul Satylganov in Bishkek.
In his speech, Jeenbekov congratulated the militiamen on the 95th anniversary.
He recalled on Nov. 1, 1924, for the first time in the country, a oblast militia department was established.
From the very beginning, the militia has played a major role in the establishment and strengthening of Soviet power, as well as in the fight against terrorism. Our militia was able to withstand the most difficult trials during the Great Patriotic War. Almost one third of the Kyrgyz militia were sent to the front. About a thousand and a half police officers fought against enemies at the front and behind the scenes, and were awarded state awards for their courage, he said.
Today we pay tribute to the memory of veterans who made a huge contribution to the formation of the Kyrgyz militia, he added.
The President also said the names of Ergesh Aliyev, Afanasy Pchelkin, Nikolai Moskov, Zhapar Shabirov and Vladimir Ushakov are written in golden letters in the glorious history of the national police.
In difficult times for the country, the internal affairs bodies continued to provide security and order, and fought vigorously against organized crime and banditry, Jeenbekov said.
The Kyrgyz leader noted the prerequisites for the safe development of the country have been created due to the effective efforts of law enforcement bodies.
A whole galaxy of true professionals has grown, who have become the pride of the militia, who have fulfilled their duties with honor, continuing the glorious path of the older generation, the President said.
