On behalf of the Head of State, B. Sagintayev and A. Dzhaksybekov presented Akim of Turkestan Region

At the meeting, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev read a letter from the Head of State addressed to the deputies of the regional maslikhat on the proposal to appoint Zhanseit Tuimebayev to the post of akim of the Turkestan region. Following the results of the voting, the deputies unanimously supported the candidacy proposed by the President.

Further, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev and Head of the Presidential Administration Adilbek Dzhaksybekov met with the activists of the Turkestan region, where they presented the new akim.

Bakytzhan Sagintayev recalled that yesterday the historic decision of the Head of State formed a new Turkestan region in our country.

“For many centuries Turkestan has been the center of political and spiritual life not only of the whole of Central Asia, but of the entire Turkic world. The decision of the Head of State on the appointment of sacred Turkestan as a regional center contributes to its further development. This historic decision of the Head of State will positively affect the improvement of the life of the local population, and also contribute to the social and economic development of the whole region,” Sagintayev said.

To fulfill the instructions of the Head of State, First Deputy Prime Minister Askar Mamin chaired the Government Commission established to prepare a Master Plan to promote the development of the city of Turkestan as a cultural and spiritual center of the Turkic world.

During the presentation, Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted Tuimebayev’s extensive experience in various responsible leadership positions.

Representatives of the local community also addressed the meeting. Writer Marhabat Baigut, public figure Sh. Myrzakhmetov on behalf of the region thanked the Head of State for the decision that raises the spiritual strength of the people and sets a new impulse for the development of the region.

It should be noted that June 19 the South Kazakhstan region was renamed as Turkestan region with the administrative center of the city of Turkestan by the Presidential Decree “On Some Issues of the Administrative and Territorial Structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
