Number of jobless persons in Kyrgyzstan amounts to over 154 thsd

There are more than 154 thousand unemployed citizens in Kyrgyzstan, Minister of Labour and Social Development Ulukbek Kochkorov told reporters Thursday at Kabar News Agency.

He said the Labour Ministry has registered 100 thousand unemployed people.

Approximately, KGS 90 million are spent annually on retraining these citizens on cooks, hairdressers, etc. We also involve them in active community service, Kochkorov said.

Ulukbek Kochkorov noted at the moment the ministry has digitized the database of unemployed citizens across the country.

“An interactive portal has been launched, where citizens can learn about training programs and see the job bank ,” the labour minister said.

Note that the number of officially registered unemployed at the end of October 2019 amounted to 83.3 thousand people, and increased by 18.9% compared to the same period in 2018 (an increase of 10.5% in January-October 2018).
