At the expense of new users, as well as elimination of the facts of illegal connection in the distribution network the number of “Azersu” subscribers for the first quarter of this year grew by 19.100 units or 1% and totaled 1.767, the state water company said in its report. As of early April, 1.697.983 (+1%) households and 69.917 (+7.2%) state and commercial enterprises and organizations are “Azersu” subscribers. According to the “Azersu”, as of April 1, 2023 the state natural monopoly of water supply provided 88.9% (1.569.600) of subscribers with meters. Including “population” group’s subscribers by 88.7% and economic entities by 95.6%. To remind, a share of Baku and Sumgait cities, as well as Absheron district accounts for 69.8% (1.234.300) of “Azersu” subscribers. According to “Azersu”, a level of provision with meters in the Baku metropolitan area on the consumer group “households” (1.18100) makes up 91.7%, and on the group “other subscribers” (53.232) – 97.3%. At that, the highest rate of installation of water meters (98.6%) by April 1 this year is in “Regional Water Utility Division 2” (Akhsu, Zardab, Ujar, Shamakhi, Kurdamir and Gobustan regions), which serves 37,000 customers. It is worth recalling that in 2021 the number of water consumers who became “Azersu” subscribers grew by 4.6%, and in 2022 by 3.9%. By the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated 30 March this year, the “State Water Resources Agency” was established and “Azersu” OJSC and “Land Reclamation and Water Resources” OJSC was subordinated to it.
