New UNT Format To Determine More Accurately The Level Of Graduates’ Knowledge
Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Yerlan Sagadiyev reported on the features of UNT new format at the Government meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
The Minister informed on the separation of final certification carried out by the Ministry, which will now be in the form of final examination in schools, and UNT as the entrance examination to the universities. The final attestation in schools will be carried out in five subjects, including 4 compulsory and 1 elective.
The UNT will remain an exam for admission to the universities and the system of state grants distribution with the format change. If there earlier were 125 questions in 5 subjects, while 100 of them in 4 subjects were taken into account, then the format of the UNT 2017 will provide for 120 questions all of them taken into account. The maximum score is 140, as there are questions 2 point worth.
The questions will be on 3 compulsory and 2 core subjects (5 in total), depending on the majors of the universities the entrant plans to enter. Testing time has not changed 3 hours 30 minutes, a passing score of 50 points also remains unchanged.
2017 UNT will be held from June 20 to July 1; in August 2017 and January 2018 the graduates will be able to repeat the examination.
The UNT profile subjects will consist of 20 questions with one correct answer and 10 tasks with multiple correct answers from the set proposed. Several answers in the core subjects testing provide an opportunity to check the level of applicants knowledge of a particular topic. Also, testing with multiple-choice questions prevents memorizing and guessing answers.
