New terminal of Astana airport accepted first int’l flight

The press service of “International Airport of Astana” JSC informed that the employees of the new terminal also serviced the passengers of the Airbus-320 plane, which flew to Moscow.

In addition, international flights to Tashkent (“Uzbek Airlines”) and Frankfurt (“Lufthansa”) are planned.

According to Chairman of the Board of the International Airport of Astana Paolo Ricciotti, the team made a lot of efforts in order to successfully implement this project in record time. The development of the Astana airport will allow the capital to become the main link between the cities of the world – the regional hub of the Central Asian region.

We remind that the opening of the new terminal of Astana International Airport took place with the participation of the Head of State on May 31 this year.

Let’s note, the modern passenger terminal was built from November 2014 to May 2017. Its area is 47000 square meters. It will serve up to 8.2 million passengers a year, which is more than 2.5 times higher than the previous capacity.
