Mederbek Sydykov has been elected President of the Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU). Election of the new head of the KFU was held Monday at an extraordinary congress of the Union.

Congress accepted the resignation of current president of the Football Union of Kyrgyzstan Kanatbek Mamatov, which was announced earlier. In this regard, the agenda of the Extraordinary Congress was the election of a new president of the organization.

Two people run for the post of KFU president – Semetei Sultanov headed the Football Federation from 2012 to 2017, and former Secretary General of the Union Mederbek Sydykov.

24 delegates voted for Sydykov’s candidacy, while three voted for Sultanov. A total of 27 delegates participated.
