Nazarbayev, Rogozin discussed development of Baikonur cosmodrome

President Nursultan has met with Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin, the press service of Akorda reported.

During the meeting the sides have reviewed the progress of work carried out by the Governments of Kazakhstan and Russia on further development of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, as well as defense and armaments.

“We have already discussed the issue of creation of joint ventures in the field of defense industry. To this end, we have created a separate ministry”, Nursultan Nazarbayev has said.

In turn, the Deputy Premier of the Russian Government in detail has informed the President of Kazakhstan about the technical side of the future “Baiterek” joint project.

“This project aims to create a radically new rocket and space technology and modernization of the launch complex. In the case of formalizing of the reached agreement by the heads of two states the prospect of the positive development of the city of Baikonur and the launch complex is possible”, Dmitry Rogozin has told.

The President has also noted the promotion of Kazakh-Russian relations in other sectors of the economy.
