Nazarbayev on relations with Russia: we are neighbors, we are relatives
The XV Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia started in Petropavlovsk. The President of Kazakhstan welcomed Vladimir Putin and all participants of the event, reports ortcom.kz with reference to informburo.kz.
“It is with great pleasure that we take you as our close partners, colleagues and close neighbors. A close neighbor is said to be better than a distant relative, so we are neighbors, we are relatives,” said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The President noted that during its existence, the frontier forum has proved to be an effective interstate platform, has become an important institution of economic cooperation between the two countries.
“This format has become a model in the post-Soviet space. Within the framework of the forums we have adopted more than 200 contracts and agreements. The implementation of the documents gives a significant impetus not only to the regions, but also to sectors of the economy both in Russia and Kazakhstan. adopt our experience, “- said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
He stressed that a clear line of cooperation was built between Kazakhstan and Russia in almost all areas of the economy.
“In the eight months of this year, the trade turnover exceeded $ 11 billion, by the end of the year it could reach $ 18 billion. The task is to reach $ 20 billion not far away. Russia is the largest market for Kazakhstani exports of processed products. Over the years of independence, direct investments from Russia to Kazakhstan amounted to about $ 14 billion, from Kazakhstan to Russia – about $ 4 billion, “the head of state added.
According to him, Kazakhstan and Russia have implemented more than 60 major investment projects worth $ 10 billion. 57 more are underway.
Vladimir Putin stressed that Kazakhstan is one of the main trade and economic partners.
“I will note that about 3.6 million Kazakhstanis visit Russia annually, and about 5 million Russians visit Kazakhstan. I am convinced that rates will continue to increase if new regions are developing, which are gaining popularity in tourism. By the way, today we have gathered in Petropavlovsk – a city that can rightly be called the embodiment of the centuries-old friendship of the Russian and Kazakh people. There are still a lot of cultural and historical heritage sites of Russia and Kazakhstan, “said Vladimir Putin.
He noted that countries are at the crossroads of old ways between Europe and Asia.
“Based on this, it would be possible to prepare through routes that will acquaint tourists with the national historical and cultural values of the two countries,” the Russian leader stressed.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that the current forum is devoted to new approaches and trends in the development of tourism of the two countries.
“In modern conditions, tourism is one of the key drivers of growth of the global economy. The tourism sector attracts hundreds of billions of dollars in direct investment. It has a multiplicative effect on the development of almost all key sectors of the economy. Tourism is a tool for economic growth even during global economic crises,” Nursultan Nazarbaev.
He cited data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, according to which by 2030, 1.8 billion people will visit popular resorts and cities, historical and cultural monuments.
“Kazakhstan and Russia cannot stay away from these processes. We need to effectively use the opening opportunities. We need to take systematic measures to develop bilateral tourism. It is important to use our geographical proximity between our countries, China and India, which have high growth rates in tourism” – stressed the President of Kazakhstan.
According to him, the country is finalizing a five-year program for the development of tourism. It is estimated that it will increase the flow of tourists to Kazakhstan to 13 million visitors and create more than 60,000 jobs.
Separately, Nursultan Nazarbayev focused on the development of bilateral tourism between Russia and Kazakhstan. He noted that every year many residents of the West Siberian part of Russia travel to Kazakhstan to the lakes Balkhash, Alakol and other regions.
“Such a demand should give rise to quality supply. Despite the fact that a lot of joint work is being carried out to develop tourism, there are still a number of issues that need to be discussed. For example, this is the modernization of border crossings at our borders in order to comfortably pass tourists, the improvement of tourist, transport and logistics infrastructure, joint development of tourism in the Caspian Sea, promoting the development of space tourism and others, “he said.
At the forum, the regions of Russia and Kazakhstan presented tourism potentials and agreed to develop joint routes for tourists. Within the framework of the forum, the exhibition “New approaches and trends in the development of tourism in Kazakhstan and Russia” was organized, in which 18 regions of Kazakhstan and 11 regions of Russia took part.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the first day of the forum about 40 bilateral documents were signed, providing for the creation of domestic tourism products of the two countries. In total, the forum is expected to sign about 70 documents.
