National hockey team of Kyrgyzstan wins on Olympic qualification debut

Kyrgyzstan’s national hockey team won the first round of the qualifying round of the 2022 Olympics. This is indicated on the website of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

The tournament took place in Luxembourg on Nov. 8-10. The national team played in the N group, and was opposed by rivals from the UAE, Luxembourg and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Following the results of the meetings, Kyrgyzstan took the first place in the standings, scoring nine points. This indicator allowed the team to reach the next round of the Olympic qualification.

The Kyrgyz players beat their UAE rivals with a score of 4:9, defeated the hockey players from Luxembourg 3:5, and in the final match defeated the team from Bosnia and Herzegovina with a score 15:3.

Note that the national team of the Kyrgyz Republic for the first time in its history was entitled to play in the qualifying round of the Winter Olympic Games.
