N.Nazarbayev met with public of Mangistau region
As part of the working visit to Mangistau region, the Head of State met with representatives of the public. Honored veterans, workers of industrial enterprises, youth leaders, sportsmen, heads of public organizations and ethno-cultural associations took part in it.
N. Nazarbayev pointed out the scale of the task set for the country, which envisages the development of Kazakhstan’s global competitiveness.
The President of Kazakhstan noted the growth of the share of Mangystau in the industry of the country for the years of independence.
“Over the past time, the economy of Mangistau region has increased significantly. Since gaining independence, the gross regional product has increased 32 times, exceeding two trillion tenge. 7 million square meters of housing have been built. In 2016, the region attracted 400 billion tenge of investments, or 12 times more than in 2000”, N. Nazarbayev said.
The Head of State underlined the significant energy, industrial and transport-logistical potential of Mangistau region.
“Located in the heart of Eurasia, Kazakhstan has always been considered a land country. Today we have successfully overcome the continental isolation. We have built a modern seaport in Aktau, figuratively speaking, we “cut a window into the outside world”, summed up the President of Kazakhstan.
Also, the Head of the State named a functioning special economic zone “Aktau Sea Port” as a successful example of the system development.
Separately, N. Nazarbayev dwelled on the need to use the significant potential of the cross-border cooperation.
“Kazakhstan has always maintained friendly relations with its neighbors. Literally yesterday I visited Azerbaijan. We have great opportunities for expanding cooperation. Only in the past two years, the mutual trade turnover between Mangistau region and Azerbaijan has grown fivefold. Your region is the most important transit hub connecting Kazakhstan with the global and regional markets. It is necessary to make full use of this huge potential”, the Head of State stressed.
Along with this, the President of Kazakhstan noted successes in the social sphere of the region.
“Over the years of Independence, the number of residents of the region has doubled, amounting to 640 thousand people, life expectancy increases. Over the years, 271,000 children have been born, and this is the highest in the country. Over 125 thousand people returned to the historical land – this is a whole city. For a quarter of a century the number of medical institutions has increased two and a half times, and schools twice. 229 kindergartens have been put into operation”, N. Nazarbayev noted.
In turn, Governor of Mangistau region Ye. Tugzhanov reported on the social and economic situation in the region and the prospects for its development.
Representatives of the public expressed their gratitude to the Head of State for the constant attention to the issues of the regional development and effective state policy.
In conclusion, the President of Kazakhstan paid attention to the need to preserve the policy of unity, harmony and friendship, which is the key to the successful development of the country and wished all Mangistau residents good health and prosperity.
