More than kzt 500 bn invested in transport infrastructure of Almaty over 25 years

Almaty citizens, who have made a significant contribution to the development of the country, were awarded with state awards.

“We’ve reached the important date – the 25th anniversary of our independence. We have gain a success over these years due to the wise policy of the President. Large-scale reforms in all spheres of social development – health, education, social security – have been implemented. During the years of sovereignty, Kazakhstan’s economy has grown by 24, and incomes of citizens – more than 20 times. The country attracted more than 255 billion dollars of direct investments. Our city also shows confident economic growth, positive achievements and progress”, – said B. Baibek.

The mayor added that with a sense of great pride I can say that Almaty is a “golden cradle” of Independence. Here, all the vital decisions were taken – the Constitution, state symbols, the national currency were approved. Our city is a prime example of the unprecedented development of Kazakhstan. It is a city of business and private capital, the spirit of entrepreneurship. Today, a quarter of all the products and services are delivered by small and medium-sized businesses, 7 out of 10 Almaty residents work in this area. Since 1991 the city’s economy has grown more than 100 times, and dramatically improved the quality of life of citizens, the average salary increased by almost 27 times, maternal and infant mortality rate reduced 2.5 and 33 times. Life expectancy recahed 75 years. This is the highest rate in the country, corresponding to the level of European cities. The number of schools became more at 40%, housing stock – by 2 times, reaching 42 million square meters. More than 500 billion tenge was invested in transport infrastructure. Almaty remains an attractive place for young people to study, work and have leisure. In the city there are 137,000 students”, – said B.Baibek.

Akim also stressed that today the city focuses on the transition to smart techs. Introduction of modern technology ensures the quality and efficiency of public services.

This year, by the Decree of the President the awards have been presented to 136 Almaty residents, 2 times more than last year.
