Ministry of Investments and Development: Construction of the secondary line of the Almaty-Shu railway line is planned to completed in December of 2017
During today’s briefing at the Government press center, Deputy Minister of Investments and Development Roman Sklyar spoke about the ongoing construction of the secondary line of the Almaty-Shu railway line, as well as the scheduled completion date.
The total length of the Almaty-Shu section is more than 300 kilometers, but here, work is still ahead to construct the secondary line stretching 111 kilometers. If December last year saw the completion of the first launch complex which is 52 kilometers, this year it is planned to complete the laying of secondary tracks stretching 59 kilometers. This will more than double throughput capacity, but here it is worth noting another important factor, which is the increase in the flow of high-speed trains, Roman Sklyar said.
He noted that the secondary tracks will allow organizing high-speed passenger transportation on a higher quality level. Ongoing work will be completed in December this year, and this section will function from Almaty to Shu, as a two-way section with all additional loads.
