Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Kazakhstan applies best efforts for creating friendly atmosphere at Astana Process
Kazakhstan made every effort to provide a friendly environment for international meeting on Syrian settlement (Astana Process). This was informed by the Foreign Affairs Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov prior to the joint statement of Russia, Turkey and Iran.
Capital of Kazakhstan � Astana � hosted an international meeting on Syrian settlement. The meeting was held at the joint initiative of the Presidents of Russia and Turkey to make Astana a venue for Syria talks between the Government and the armed opposition. President Nursultan Nazarbayev fully supported the initiative and announced a willingness to provide a platform in the capital of Kazakhstan. We have done the best to provide the most friendly atmosphere for a meeting in Astana for all the involved, including the media, both international and local, Kairat Abdrakhmanov spoke following the Astana Process talks.
The Foreign Minister noted that Kazakhstan recognizes the leading role of the UN in resolving the situation in Syria and appreciates the consistent efforts of Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General Staffan de Mistura.
