Teachers, who tolerate extortion in schools of the Republic of Kazakhstan, are strictly punished up to and including dismissal. This was stated by Vice Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Elmira Sukhanberdiyeva at CCS briefing.
“There is a ministerial order that approved provisions on prohibiting any type of extortion (money) in schools. It has been in effect for a long time, and is brought to all educational divisions and departments. We have been following the no-fees-policy tightly enough. But there are cases when the rules are violated at the local level,” Elmira Sukhanberdiyeva said.
Vice Minister added that this order is brought to all regional local executive bodies, plus Astana and Almaty.
“And we take tough enough measures to all those facts of extortion, so we stay relevant and jointly with students` parents are always strongly against it. Each educational department of regions, Astana and Almaty has the ministerial order on prohibition of charges. The cases of extortion we consider in disciplinary way, up to and including dismissal of teachers committed it,” Elmira Sukhanberdiyeva noted.
