Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan holds meetings at the representative office of Kazakhstan at the UN
The working visit of the Acting Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Yelzhan Birtanov to the USA continues, reports ortcom. kz.
After visiting major medical and scientific centers in Houston and Boston, the Kazakh delegation arrived in New York and then went to Washington.
Participants discussed the development of primary health care and the role of the Astana Declaration on primary health care in the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the UN.
Recall that 40 years ago in Almaty, the WHO Declaration was adopted, which was called the Magna Carta of World Health.
The Almaty Declaration on health care has been firmly included in the curricula of medical centers around the world, Yelzhan Birtanov said in a speech to representatives of diplomatic missions.
He noted that last year in Astana the global conference of the World Health Organization and UNICEF on the development of primary health care was held. It was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the famous Declaration of Alma-Ata.
But the most important thing is that on our initiative, 149 countries of the participants adopted a new declaration on the development of primary health care – the Astana Declaration. In September, a high-level meeting will be held here in New York within the framework of the UN General Assembly, where a number of countries are implementing initiatives in the field of universal health coverage, and we hope that this year’s resolution and political declaration will focus on the development of primary health and the principles of the Declaration of Astana, Yelzhan Birtanov added.
