Minister of Defence launches the first military pier in Aktau

On the eve of the 25th Anniversary of Independence, Minister of Defence Colonel-General Saken Zhasuzakov took part in the opening ceremony of the pier for the stationing of ships and vessels of the Naval Forces of Kazakhstan.

Having own base for the stationing of ships will enable effective and timely response to possible threats in the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea, to timely organize the supply and maintenance, expeditious exit of ships in the areas of concentration.

The pier is located on the territory of the Aktau International Sea Trade Port with the capacity of more than 10 ships.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Nursultan Nazarbayev pays special attention to the improvement of material and technical base of the Kazakh Army. The strategically important objects are being commissioned with the aim of improving the conditions of military service; the social infrastructure of military camps and garrisons is being improved. Creating own pier with sufficient infrastructure is paramount to maintaining the ships of the Naval Forces of Kazakhstan, keeping and restoring their combat capacity in solving the problems immediately, the Minister of Defence says.

In addition, within the framework of the working trip to Aktau garrison, the Minister of Defence learnt in detail about the progress in construction of logistics base of the Armed Forces in the western direction, including storage for material and technical resources that will ensure forces self-sustaining in the west.
