MIA RK calls for vigilance and caution during bathing season
According to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, there are 121 urban and 569 private swimming beaches in Kazakhstan this year. As of May 28, the local police service conducted 627 patrols and raids in recreation areas near the water and 568 on natural beaches, as a result, 21 people were brought to administrative responsibility.
Yuri Ilyin urged Kazakhstanis to be vigilant and careful during the bathing season.
“Unfortunately, in the swimming season that has just begun, we are witnessing the death of people on water bodies. This is not only because of bathing. This is due to fishing, leaving children unattended by adults, which leads to tragic consequences. Today, around the country, 28 people died, 11 of them children. For comparison, last year for the same period we had 44 people dead, 25 of whom were children,” the Deputy Minister said.
The CES units are involved in providing security in the controlled water areas. In total, more than a thousand people daily monitor, control the water area.
“One of the main tools for preventing the death of people on the water is raising public awareness. More than 144 thousand copies of agitation products are distributed among the population. Particular attention is paid to the prevention of infant mortality on the water,” Yuri Ilyin noted.
According to the statistics of the last year, 102 children drowned in the reservoirs of the country during the bathing season for various reasons.
In order to prevent cases of infant mortality, 883 unscheduled parent meetings were held by the territorial units of the Emergency Situations Committee in cooperation with educational institutions, where water safety measures were explained to parents, video clips were shown about the causes of death on the water.
251 interactive lessons were organized and conducted, covering over 200 educational institutions of the country. They took control of 115 children’s camps located near water bodies.
“In this regard, with the beginning of the holidays, I would like to pay special attention to the responsibility of parents for finding children near water bodies, irrigation canals,” Yuri Ilyin summarized.
