Memorandum on the deployment of Kazakhstan’s peacekeeping contingent signed in Astana
The Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of India on the procedure for the joint deployment of Kazakhstan’s peacekeeping contingent in the Indian battalion in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon was signed at the National Military Patriotic Center of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From the Kazakh side, the Memorandum was signed by the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant-General Talgat Mukhtarov, and from the Indian side – by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan Prabhat Kumar.
The main purpose of the Memorandum is to create a legal basis for the participation of the peacekeeping unit of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, as well as to determine the legal status of servicemen participating in the mission.
