Meeting of Kazakhstan’s Secretary of State Gulshara Abdykalikova with Bundestag deputy of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany Sibylle Pfeiffer

During the conversation G.Abdykalikova stressed that Kazakhstan is preparing to celebrate the 25-year anniversary of Independence. In such a short historical period our country has achieved significant results and to date Kazakhstan faces the task of entering the top 30 world’s most developed countries. The President of Kazakhstan put forward Five Institutional Reforms and 100 Specific Steps Nation Plan to achieve the task.

The Secretary of State noted that Germany is a key partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union. Next year it is 25 years since establishing the diplomatic relations by our countries.

During the meeting they discussed a number of topical issues of economic, social and cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany. The sides expressed satisfaction with the current dynamics of trade-economic and investment relations development. The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Germany has reached $ 1.2 billion in January-August 2016. Currently, the Kazakh side and the leading German companies LANXESS, GEA, BASF, DACHSER, BAYWA are actively negotiating to launch investment projects in the field of construction, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, engineering, energy, agricultural processing, and metallurgy and transport logistics.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the extended Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EU.

The meeting also discussed the full advancement of women and implementation of the United Nations sustainable development objectives.

The Secretary of State informed the Bundestag deputy of preparation activities for the international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana. G.Abdykalikova noted that on the opening day of Germany’s National Pavilion on July 12, 2017 Kazakhstan expects participation of high-ranking guests from Germany.

At the end of the meeting the Secretary of State thanked S.Pfeiffer for assistance in strengthening dialogue and mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and Germany.
